The price of a Unitron hearing aid

The price of a hearing aid depends on a number of factors: the hearing protocol, your health insurance, your outstanding deductible and any additional insurance. So it’s not easy to say what a hearing aid will cost you, but we’ll explain briefly how it works:

The hearing protocol

The hearing protocol describes how hearing aids should be provided by the hearing care professional in accordance with the Health Insurance Act. Through a questionnaire, hearing test and conversation with the hearing care professional, you are assigned to a category ranging from 1 to 5, depending on your essential needs. If you choose a hearing aid from the category in which you are classified, the health insurance company will reimburse (part of) the costs.

75% from basic insurance

The basic insurance reimburses up to 75% of the cost of your hearing aid, provided you no longer have an outstanding deductible. Do you still have an outstanding deductible? Then this will be used first and the health insurance company will reimburse the rest until the 75% has been reached.

25% is own contribution

We call the remaining 25% the co-payment. In principle, you pay this amount yourself, unless you have supplementary insurance for this. Do you have no outstanding deductible and are you additionally insured for the full co-payment? Then your hearing aid is free of charge.

Of course, our audiologists will calculate in advance what a hearing aid will cost you, so there will never be any surprises.

A hearing aid from the outer category

Outside the hearing protocol, there are also hearing aids that are not assigned a category: the outer category. These hearing aids generally contain more and more innovative features. Because these features are not considered necessary, the hearing aid does not fall within the protocol. Of course, it is possible that you do want these features. You can then still purchase the hearing aid and buy on the private market. If you do this, your hearing aid will not be reimbursed by the health insurance company, and you will pay for it yourself.
