Tinnitus is usually a form of hearing damage. People with tinnitus hear, for example, a high-pitched squeak, a whistling sound, a noise or a hiss. This is often because the vibrating hairs in the inner ear are damaged by illness, for example, or by prolonged exposure to loud noises such as in construction or at festivals.

Tinnitus is also increasingly affecting young people, so good hearing protection and headphones that produce sound within a safe noise level are therefore very important. In addition, stress or tension can aggravate or even cause symptoms.

Tinnitus can impact daily life and can even lead to concentration problems, chronic fatigue or depression. Therefore, we also recommend consulting a psychologist.

Tinnitus does not go away (completely). However, Hearing Good and a psychologist can help you get your tinnitus under control so that it reduces its impact on your life. We do this by offering a combination of information, measurements, counseling and sound therapy.

A noise generator or combined hearing aids against tinnitus

The hearing care professional will work with you to address the symptoms using a noise generator. This is a generator that reproduces frequencies that have an opposite effect. The frequency that you hear as a beep is thus counteracted by a counter noise. It could also be that a hearing aid has a better effect by amplifying environmental sounds, or that we just use a hearing aid to make alleviating sounds audible. With alleviating sounds we work with, for example, white noise or ocean-like sounds.

During the initial consultation you will receive a tinnitus measurement in addition to a hearing examination. Should it turn out that you have a reduction in hearing ability along with tinnitus, we have combined hearing aids. These can allow you to hear better, reducing your efforts to understand and providing you with a way to combat the tinnitus.
