The Horend Goed wax balls are made of soft petroleum jelly combined with kerosene, beeswax and a tuft of cotton. This composition makes them easily moldable and moldable to fit any ear. These wax balls ensure that you experience maximum comfort in your ears with good protection as much as you do.
How much sound do the wax balls dampen?
The wax balls muffle the sound coming in through the ear canal. We also “hear” sounds by feeling. These sounds (vibrations) come in despite the wax balls. The wax balls have an SNR value of 27dB. This means that it muffles sounds, but some sounds are still audible, for example an alarm clock.
Are the earplugs also suitable for my daughter/son?
We recommend using the balls of wax only from an age of 6 years and up. This is because of the danger of ingestion (they do look a bit like candy), but it is also difficult to determine whether the balls of wax really do seal well. Your daughter or son under the age of 6 can often have trouble answering this. As a result, the reliability of sealing is not there.
What ears are these wax balls suitable for?
The wax balls are suitable for ears from 6 years of age. They are also fine to form in small and narrow ear canals. Be careful not to put them too deep into the ear.
We do not recommend wax balls for ears that have had surgery. Think of radical cavities. The ear canals are then so distorted that these wax balls are not enough to work properly.
It is also preferable not to use wax balls for eardrum perforations and eardrum tubes.
Are these earbuds waterproof?
These earplugs are waterproof. However, we do not recommend swimming or diving underwater with these wax balls. They are splash-proof, however.
Can I use the laundry balls more often?
To prevent ear infections and ear canal irritations, we recommend discarding these earplugs after use.
I suffer from cold in my ear while cycling, can I use these wax balls?
Yes, they protect you from cold and splashing water.
Horend Goed has been in existence since 2013. Horend Goed employs passionate audiologists who always go for the best solution. The best hearing solution is better hearing but also if someone wants to hear a little less. Horend Goed audiciens are always working on developments, including these wax balls since 2021.
These wax balls are suitable for people who are easily overstimulated by sound. They may be standard in the bags of people with hyperacusis and sound distortion (distortion and diplacusis).
What do our audiologists think of wax balls:
Advantages of wax balls
- When the wax ball is placed, it is immediately right. No expansion time is needed for proper damping.
- No problems with perspiration due to ear muffs, for example.
- Helmet, goggles or safety glasses can be worn without problems.
- Attenuation is 27 dB SNR. Warning signals remain audible.
- The wax balls can be worn discreetly.
Disadvantages of wax balls
- to be used once.
- Do not use in the following environments: hot, dirty or dusty (work) place.
How do you use the wax balls? Commissioning
- Make sure you have clean hands.
- Take a wax ball, remove the layer of cotton wool and knead it lightly.
- Then press the pellet into the ear canal.
- Make sure the pellet seals the ear canal tightly.
- Do not press the wax ball too deeply into the ear canal.
- For narrow ear canals, pulling the auricle slightly back and up with one hand can still help.
Removing from the ear
By applying slight pressure behind the auricle on the underside with your fingers, you make a little more space between the ear canal and the wax ball. Then you can remove the wax ball.
Do not use objects other than your fingers when removing. This prevents the wax ball from getting too deep in ear canal.
