Whether it is hearing protection at work, at a concert, while sleeping or while swimming, there are many types of hearing protectors available. There is an appropriate solution for every situation. Proper prevention can prevent both temporary and permanent hearing damage.

Hearing protection at work

Above 80 dB, the employer is required to make hearing protection available. There are several options for this. Which one is used depends on the situation.

  • Ear muffs: These are two plastic shells lined with sound-absorbing material. The ear muffs are height adjustable with the bracket and reduce noise 15 to 25 dB.
  • Hearing pads: Hearing wads have glass down and are usually encased in a thin layer of plastic film. These wads can be used once and reduce noise levels by 5 to 10 dB.
  • Foam plugs: These are pieces of impregnated plastic foam in a cylindrical shape. The user can press the foam plugs into a roll with thumb and forefinger and insert them into the ear. There, the plug expands until the ear canal is filled. The foam plugs can be reused and reduce the noise level by 10 to 15 dB.
  • Earplugs: Earplugs are made of silicone rubber and can be purchased in different shapes. They are durable and hygienic. They reduce noise by 10 to 15 dB. You can find our collection of earplugs in our shop.
  • Otoplastics: These are individually fitted earplugs. Otoplastics are made of synthetic resin and seal the ear canal without exerting pressure on the wall of the ear canal. The noise reduction is adjustable and can reduce the noise level by 5 to 30 dB. Because otoplastics can be better tailored to the situation, they are the most commonly used ear protection at work. Of course we can fit your otoplastics, make a quick appointment!

Earplugs for sleeping or on the plane

There are special earplugs for different situations. Do you suffer from a snoring partner, noise from the neighbors or traffic and does it disturb your sleep? Then there are earplugs that are specially designed to filter out these annoying noises and let you sleep soundly again. There are also earplugs made for use on airplanes. These reduce the pressure in the ears and muffle the noise of the engines for a pleasant journey. The entire collection of earplugs can be found in our shop.

Hearing protection at concerts or while driving

It is often thought that when you wear earplugs at a concert, the music experience is compromised. However, nothing could be further from the truth. There are universal earplugs and otoplastics with a special music filter for sale, which attenuate the excessively loud noise, but keep the experience intact. This ensures that you won’t be left with hearing damage from a fun event. For motorcyclists, passengers and convertible drivers, there are also special earplugs that filter out wind noise. Wind noise quickly reaches 94 dB and is harmful to your hearing after only 15 minutes. You will find all our earplugs in our shop, or you can make an appointment for the fitting of otoplastics.

Swimming caps

Water in the ear can carry dirt and bacteria, which can lead to an ear infection. To prevent this, there are several things you can do:

  1. Put a wad of cotton wool in the ear and lubricate it with petroleum jelly. This solution is the least reliable, though. After use, discard the cotton wool!
  2. Buy moldable ear plugs from pharmacies or drug stores, which can be used multiple times. The moldable silicone plugs cause them to mold to the auricle, thereby sealing the ear.
  3. Buy thermoplastic earplugs at a pharmacy or drugstore. These plugs made of durable, flexible plastic adapt to the ear canal within minutes due to the heat of the ear itself. These earplugs can also be used multiple times.
  4. Have your swimming earplugs custom made by us. These earplugs are of very good quality and will last a long time. Do have them checked from time to time to make sure they still seal the ear properly.
