Bernafon is a Swiss manufacturer of hearing aids, created in 1946 from the Gfeller telephone company. This was because the then owner, Hans Gfeller, suffered from severe hearing loss himself. Since then, the company has grown significantly and become a fixture in the hearing care industry. They operate in more than 70 countries worldwide.

Would it be something for me?
A hearing aid is highly dependent on wants and needs. The purchase is a personal process that requires consideration of such things as your degree of hearing loss and the features you want and need. We cannot tell you if a Bernafon hearing system is right for you, but our hearing care specialists in the store can! Make an appointment and they will gladly provide you with a free, no obligation hearing test and honest and straightforward advice.
What does a Bernafon hearing aid cost?
The price of a hearing aid depends on your health insurance, your outstanding deductible and any additional insurance. In addition, it is important where you fall within the hearing protocol.
The hearing protocol
The hearing protocol classifies you into 1 of 5 categories on the basis of a questionnaire, hearing test and conversation with the hearing care professional. This has to do with the degree of hearing loss and thus the hearing solution needed for you. If you choose a hearing aid from the category assigned to you, the health insurance company will reimburse part of the costs.
The first 75%
Three quarters of the cost of your hearing aid is covered by basic insurance. The health insurance company reimburses a maximum of 75%, provided your deductible has already been used. Do you have any outstanding deductible? Then this will be used first and the health insurance will reimburse the remaining amount.
The remaining 25%
The 25% that remains is called the co-payment. In principle, you pay this yourself, unless you have supplementary insurance for this. If you no longer have a deductible and have supplementary insurance for the full deductible, a hearing aid is completely free.
Hearing aids on the private market
Outside the hearing protocol, there are also hearing aids on the private market. We also call these out-of-category hearing aids because they fall outside any category. Generally, these are the more advanced devices with extensive functions that are not always considered necessary, but are considered desirable. If you choose a hearing aid from the outside category, it will not be covered by the health insurance company and you will pay for it entirely yourself.
