Alarm clocks for the hearing impaired

We rely on sound a lot in our daily lives to alert or inform us. Think of the doorbell, fire alarm or alarm clock. For the hearing impaired, however, these systems are far from adequate. Fortunately, there are also very nice solutions. In this article, we will tell you about a specific case: alarm clocks for the hearing impaired.

A louder alarm sound

It sounds logical, and it is. Alarm clocks for the hearing impaired have a louder alarm sound than a regular alarm clock. When purchasing, pay attention to how loud the alarm clock can be and adjust it to your personal needs. Alarm clocks for the hearing impaired can go up to 100 dB!

Alarm clocks with vibrating disc

Most alarm clocks for the hard of hearing use an external vibrator. You place it under your pillow and when the alarm goes off it wakes you up by vibrating. They are relatively simple but very effective systems.

External vibrating disk for your cell phone

If you use your cell phone as an alarm clock, you can also connect a separate wireless vibrator to it. These vibrators connect via Bluetooth and are controlled via an app. They otherwise work the same way: you put the vibrator under your pillow and it wakes you up by vibrating.

Travel alarm clocks with vibration function

In addition to the external vibrating disk, there are also travel alarm clocks that vibrate on their own. Instead of the vibrating disk, you then place the entire alarm clock under your pillow. They are basically meant to be taken along on a trip, but of course can also be used perfectly well at home.

Alarm clocks with light and flash function

In addition to the vibrating disc, there are alarm clocks that use light to wake you up. This can be a sunrise simulation (like Philips’ famous wake-up light), or a series of bright flashes. You can use this feature separately, or in combination with a vibrating disk. Then you are sure to wake up!

Complete wake-up and alert systems

The most comprehensive option are full wake-up and alert systems. These systems not only serve as alarm clocks, but can also be linked to your cell phone, doorbell or fire alarm, for example. So they not only help you wake up, but also alert you if your phone rings, someone is at the door or there is a fire. Depending on the system, they also use a vibrating disc and/or flash function.
